Information: America should be grateful to the Union of Concerned Scientists (www.ucsusa.org); 2 Brattle Square, Cambridge, MA 02238; 617-547-5552) for taking the initative and preparing its Clean Energy Blueprint to show step-by-step how the U.S. can achieve a clean energy future. This invaluable report is available on their website.

The Rocky Mountain Institute
(www.rmi.org); 1739 Snowmass Creek Road, Snowmass, CO 81654-9199; 970-927-3851) is another outfit that we’re all lucky to have on our side. The RMI is a veritable clearinghouse of up-to-the-minute information on energy efficiency and renewable energy sources.

Legislation & Agitation: Senate Majority Leader Tom Daschle has introduced an energy bill that includes energy efficiency and renewable energy and would not allow Arctic drilling. Debate is scheduled for late January or early February. Political strategist Dan Carol has helped to put together the Save Our Environment Coalition, and their website (www. saveour environment.org) has a nifty portal that lets you zap a message to your Congress critters demanding that they vote for responsible energy policy.
